Serie A September 6 Preview: Inter Milan vs Napoli & Roma vs Atalanta | Predictions and Score Tips
Serie A Matchday 3 brings two heavyweight clashes as Inter Milan host Napoli at San Siro, while Roma welcome Atalanta to the Stadio Olimpico.
For Indian football fans, these are comfortably among the biggest Serie A fixtures of the weekend. Inter are looking to maintain their perfect start as defending champions, while Napoli need an immediate response after a surprise defeat. Roma and Atalanta, meanwhile, meet after both opening the campaign with back-to-back victories.
Inter Milan vs Napoli: Early Scudetto Test at San Siro
Inter have made an excellent start to their title defence.
Cristian Chivu's side followed their opening 4-1 victory over Monza with a 1-0 away win against Cagliari, taking maximum points from their first two matches.
Hakan Çalhanoğlu scored the winner against Cagliari and Inter dominated much of the contest, although their failure to convert more chances kept the match alive until the end.
Napoli arrive in Milan under greater pressure.
Massimiliano Allegri's men started with a 2-0 victory over Genoa but were then stunned 2-1 at home by Como. That result leaves Napoli three points behind Inter heading into their first major head-to-head battle of the season.
Team selection could also be important. Inter are expected to field a strong XI, with Lautaro Martínez leading the attack and Pio Esposito competing with Marcus Thuram for the second forward position.
For Napoli, Kevin De Bruyne's fitness is being monitored after he picked up a knock against Como.
Napoli certainly have enough quality to trouble the champions, but Inter's stronger early-season form and home advantage give the Nerazzurri a slight edge.
Prediction: Inter Milan to win or draw, with a home win preferred
Score Prediction: Inter Milan 2-1 Napoli

Roma vs Atalanta: Two Perfect Starts Collide
The late fixture at the Olimpico could be just as entertaining.
Roma have started the new Serie A campaign in impressive fashion. After beating Fiorentina 4-0 on Matchday 1, Gian Piero Gasperini's side produced another 4-0 victory against Lecce in their second league outing.
Atalanta have also collected six points from their opening two matches.
Their latest victory came against Bologna, with Lazar Samardžić scoring the decisive goal in a 1-0 win. Maurizio Sarri is expected to keep much of the same structure for the trip to Rome.
That makes this a fascinating tactical battle.
Roma's attacking form gives them confidence, but there are some defensive concerns. Evan Ndicka is a fitness doubt, while Lorenzo Pellegrini and Devyne Rensch are also being assessed ahead of the game.
Atalanta have enough attacking quality through players such as Gianluca Scamacca, Charles De Ketelaere and Giacomo Raspadori to punish any defensive mistakes.
Recent league meetings also suggest Roma should not expect an easy night, with Atalanta winning four of the last six Serie A encounters between the sides.
However, Roma's excellent start and home advantage make them slightly more attractive.
Prediction: Roma to win or draw
Score Prediction: Roma 2-1 Atalanta
