When Do French Clubs Begin Their 2026/27 European Campaigns?

Lyon will begin their European journey in the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round against Czech side Sparta Prague.

Second leg:
11 August – Lyon vs Sparta Prague

If Lyon advance, they will move into the Champions League play-offs, with the two legs scheduled for 18/19 and 25/26 August.

Victory in the play-offs would secure Lyon a place in the League Phase.

PSG, Lens and Lille Ready for Champions League

PSG, Lens and Lille have qualified directly for the Champions League League Phase.

The draw will take place on 27 August, while Matchday 1 is scheduled from 8 to 10 September.

Marseille and Rennes in Europa League

Olympique de Marseille and Stade Rennais will represent Ligue 1 in the Europa League League Phase.

The draw is scheduled for 28 August, with the opening round of matches taking place on 16 and 17 September.

Monaco Target Conference League Qualification

AS Monaco must qualify for the Conference League League Phase through the play-offs.

The two legs are scheduled for 20 and 27 August, with Monaco needing to win the tie to secure their place in the main competition.

With Lyon beginning their Champions League qualifying campaign in early August, French football will soon have seven clubs chasing success across Europe's biggest competitions.
