Serie A September 5 Preview: Genoa vs Como & Fiorentina vs Torino | Predictions and Score Tips
Serie A Matchday 3 gets underway with two interesting fixtures as Genoa host Como, while Fiorentina take on Torino at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.
The early weeks of the 2026/27 season have already produced contrasting fortunes for these teams. Como arrive with confidence after a statement victory over Napoli, while Genoa are still searching for their first goal. Fiorentina and Torino, meanwhile, are both under pressure after difficult starts to the campaign.
Genoa vs Como: Can Fabregas' Side Continue Their Strong Start?
Como have quickly emerged as one of the teams to watch in Serie A.
After opening the season with a 1-1 draw against Udinese, Cesc Fabregas' side produced an impressive 2-1 away victory over Napoli on Matchday 2.
Martin Baturina opened the scoring before Napoli equalised through Rasmus Hojlund, but Anastasios Douvikas struck the winner to secure all three points for Como.
That result underlined the progress Como have made. After finishing fourth last season and qualifying for European football, Fabregas' team have continued to play an ambitious possession-based style rather than simply sitting deep against stronger opponents.
Genoa enter the fixture in a much more difficult position.
Daniele De Rossi's team were beaten 1-0 by Lazio in their latest Serie A outing and are yet to find the net this season. Their defensive organisation can make them difficult to break down, but the lack of attacking output is becoming an early concern.
Home advantage at the Luigi Ferraris should help Genoa, but Como currently look more confident with the ball and carry a greater attacking threat.
Prediction: Como to win or draw
Score Prediction: Genoa 1-1 Como

Fiorentina vs Torino: Both Teams Desperate for a Response
The second fixture brings together two sides desperately searching for momentum.
Fiorentina have endured a particularly difficult start. After suffering a heavy defeat against Roma on Matchday 1, the Viola were stunned 3-0 at home by newly-promoted Frosinone in their second league game.
Two defeats without scoring have immediately increased the pressure in Florence.
Torino have not enjoyed their start either. They lost 2-1 against AC Milan before suffering another 2-1 defeat to Sassuolo on Matchday 2, with Domenico Berardi scoring the decisive goal.
The difference is that Torino have at least shown some attacking output, scoring in both matches.
For Fiorentina, this is an important opportunity to reset their campaign. Playing at the Franchi gives them an advantage, but they must improve significantly at both ends of the pitch.
Torino could cause problems on the counter if Fiorentina commit too many players forward, so this may be much closer than the home supporters would like.
Still, with home advantage and greater urgency after two disappointing results, Fiorentina get a slight edge.
Prediction: Fiorentina win or draw, with a narrow home victory preferred
Score Prediction: Fiorentina 2-1 Torino
