PSG Beat Arsenal on Penalties to Win Back-to-Back Champions League Titles

Paris Saint-Germain successfully defended their UEFA Champions League crown after defeating Arsenal in a dramatic penalty shootout in Budapest.

The two sides were locked at 1-1 after 120 minutes before PSG held their nerve to win the shootout 4-3 and lift the Champions League trophy for the second consecutive season.

Havertz Gives Arsenal an Early Lead

Arsenal made the perfect start when Kai Havertz opened the scoring in the sixth minute.

PSG enjoyed plenty of possession but struggled to break through Mikel Arteta's organised defence during the first half, allowing Arsenal to take a 1-0 advantage into the break.

The Ligue 1 champions responded after half-time and found their equaliser in the 65th minute.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was fouled inside the Arsenal penalty area and Ousmane Dembélé stepped up to convert from the spot, making it 1-1.

Kvaratskhelia later struck the post, while Vitinha also went close as PSG searched for a winner. Neither side could find another goal, sending the final into extra time and eventually penalties.

PSG Hold Their Nerve in the Shootout

Gonçalo Ramos, Désiré Doué, Achraf Hakimi and Lucas Beraldo converted their penalties for PSG, while Nuno Mendes saw his effort saved by David Raya.

Arsenal, however, failed to take advantage. Eberechi Eze missed his penalty before Gabriel sent the decisive attempt over the crossbar.

PSG won the shootout 4-3 to complete a historic title defence.

Luis Enrique's side became only the second club to successfully retain the Champions League title and the first since Real Madrid to win Europe's biggest club competition in consecutive seasons.

The victory further strengthens PSG's position among Europe's elite and marks another major chapter in the club's growing continental legacy.
