MI Strengthen Squad With Mahipal Lomror & Ruchit Ahir Ahead of IPL 2026 Playoffs

Mumbai Indians (MI) have officially announced the signing of Mahipal Lomror and Ruchit Ahir as injury replacements during the crucial phase of the TATA IPL 2026 season. With the playoff race heating up, MI are looking to add more depth and balance to their squad.

Experienced batting all-rounder Mahipal Lomror joins the five-time IPL champions as a replacement for injured South African wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock. Lomror already brings valuable IPL experience, having represented teams such as Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru in previous seasons. He was also previously associated with Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Titans.

Known for his aggressive middle-order batting and ability to contribute with the ball, Lomror is expected to provide Mumbai Indians with additional flexibility during high-pressure matches. He joins MI for approximately USD 600.

Meanwhile, 25-year-old Ruchit Ahir has been signed as a replacement for Raj Angad Bawa, who has also been ruled out due to injury. Representing Saurashtra in domestic cricket, Ruchit has featured in 16 List A matches and 12 T20 games, earning attention for his consistent performances.

Mumbai Indians fans will now be eager to see whether these fresh additions can strengthen the squad’s playoff push and help the franchise continue its hunt for another IPL title.
