Ligue 1 September 19 Preview: Monaco vs Lens & Paris FC vs Strasbourg | Predictions and Score Tips

Ligue 1 Matchday 5 brings two interesting fixtures for Indian football fans on September 19. Monaco welcome Lens to the Stade Louis-II, while Paris FC host Strasbourg in the French capital.

The Monaco-Lens clash is the headline fixture, with last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Lens facing one of the strongest sides in the early weeks of the new campaign. Paris FC against Strasbourg should also be an entertaining contest, particularly given the attacking performances both sides have produced so far.

Monaco vs Lens: A Major Test at Stade Louis-II

Monaco have enjoyed an excellent start to the 2026/27 Ligue 1 campaign.

Before Matchday 4, Filipe Luís' side had won all three league matches, including impressive victories over Marseille and defending champions PSG. Monaco entered the fourth round as league leaders, having conceded just once in their opening three fixtures.

Lens, however, cannot be underestimated.

They finished second in Ligue 1 last season and secured Champions League qualification. More importantly, Lens won 4-1 at the Stade Louis-II in their previous league visit, giving Monaco an added motivation to take revenge this time around. Monaco's official preview has described Lens as a direct contender for the podium places.

Monaco's home advantage and overall balance make them slight favourites, but Lens have already shown they are capable of hurting the hosts.

This could be a competitive match rather than a one-sided affair.

Prediction: Monaco to avoid defeat, home win preferred

Score Tip: Monaco 2-1 Lens

Alternative Score: Monaco 1-1 Lens

Paris FC vs Strasbourg: Goals Could Be on the Cards

Paris FC have been one of the early surprises of the season.

After drawing their opening match, they recorded back-to-back victories against Nice and Marseille. Before Matchday 4, Paris FC had seven points from three games and had scored six goals across their previous two fixtures.

Strasbourg have also shown plenty of attacking quality.

After a difficult opening defeat, they responded with consecutive victories, including a spectacular 6-2 away win over Troyes. They scored eight goals across those two victories, highlighting the threat they can pose in transition and around the penalty area.

Paris FC will have home advantage, but Strasbourg's ability to attack at pace makes this a difficult match to call.

With both teams showing an attacking approach during the opening weeks, chances at both ends would not be a surprise.

Prediction: Paris FC to avoid defeat

Score Tip: Paris FC 2-2 Strasbourg

Alternative Score: Paris FC 2-1 Strasbourg
