Juventus Sign 18-Year-Old Kerim Alajbegović: Bosnia Starlet Earns Big Move After World Cup Breakthrough

Juventus have completed the signing of Kerim Alajbegović, one of Bosnia and Herzegovina's brightest young talents, as the Italian giants continue to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2026/27 Serie A season.

The 18-year-old has joined Juventus on a permanent transfer from Bayer Leverkusen and signed a five-year contract until 30 June 2031. He arrives in Turin following an impressive season with Red Bull Salzburg and an eye-catching campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Breakthrough Season at Salzburg

Born in Cologne on 21 September 2007, Alajbegović developed through the youth systems of Köln and Bayer Leverkusen before spending last season on loan at Salzburg.

The move proved crucial for his development. The Bosnian attacker made 44 appearances across all competitions, scoring 13 goals and providing four assists.

His performances quickly established him as one of Europe's promising young attacking players.

World Cup 2026 Put Him in the Spotlight

Alajbegović's reputation grew further during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

He produced a memorable goal against Qatar, using his close control to escape pressure before finding the net from outside the penalty area.

At 18 years and 276 days, he became the eighth-youngest goalscorer in FIFA World Cup history. FIFA also confirmed that he became the youngest player to score from outside the penalty area in World Cup history.

A Versatile Option for Spalletti

Alajbegović primarily operates on the left wing but can play on either flank. His ability with both feet, acceleration and one-on-one quality make him a difficult player for defenders to predict.

Under Luciano Spalletti, the youngster will add another creative option to a Juventus attack already featuring several technically gifted players.

At only 18, Alajbegović remains a player for the future. But after his rapid rise at Salzburg and breakthrough on the biggest international stage, Juventus clearly believe he is ready to take the next step in Serie A.
