Premier League October 10–11 Preview: Man Utd vs Tottenham & Liverpool vs Man City | Predictions

The Premier League returns after the international break with two blockbuster fixtures. Manchester United host Tottenham at Old Trafford, before Liverpool welcome Manchester City to Anfield in a major early-season showdown.

Manchester United vs Tottenham Hotspur

Kick-off: October 10, 10:00 PM IST

Manchester United's biggest concern has been consistency. Michael Carrick's side collected only four points from their opening four league matches before Matchweek 5, with their midfield balance and defensive transitions coming under pressure.

Against Tottenham, United may benefit from playing more directly rather than dominating possession for long periods. Bruno Fernandes remains central to their creativity, while quick transitions could be particularly useful if Spurs push their defensive line high.

Tottenham are also adapting to Roberto De Zerbi's system. His approach encourages possession and building from the back, but that can create space when the first line of pressure is beaten.

United therefore need to press intelligently rather than simply aggressively. Winning possession in midfield and attacking the space behind Tottenham's defence could be the key.

Key Battle: United's transitions vs Tottenham's high defensive line

Liverpool vs Manchester City

Kick-off: October 11, 9:00 PM IST

This is the headline fixture of the weekend.

Manchester City have made a perfect start under Enzo Maresca. Their latest victory over Sunderland maintained their 100 per cent Premier League record and moved them three points clear at the top.

Liverpool, meanwhile, remain a major attacking threat under Andoni Iraola. Alexander Isak scored the winner against Bournemouth in their latest league outing, taking his Premier League tally to four goals.

Tactically, the key battle should be Liverpool's high press against City's build-up play.

At Anfield, Liverpool are likely to press City's defenders and midfielders aggressively, looking to force turnovers in dangerous areas. If that works, Isak's movement and finishing could cause serious problems.

City's response will be equally important. If Maresca's side can play through Liverpool's first press, space should open up behind the midfield. From there, City's technical quality and Erling Haaland's runs could become extremely dangerous.

The international break is another factor. Both teams have several international players, so fitness and rotation could influence the intensity of the match.

With Liverpool having home advantage but City showing excellent early-season form, this looks extremely difficult to separate.
