Bundesliga September 19-20 Preview: Stuttgart vs Dortmund & Leverkusen vs RB Leipzig | Predictions
Bundesliga Matchday 4 brings two high-profile fixtures for Indian football fans as Borussia Dortmund travel to face VfB Stuttgart, while Bayer Leverkusen host RB Leipzig at the BayArena.
Dortmund enter the weekend with a perfect league record, while Leipzig are coming off their biggest win of the season so far.
VfB Stuttgart vs Borussia Dortmund
Borussia Dortmund have made an excellent start to the 2026/27 Bundesliga season.
Niko Kovač's side have won all three league matches, scoring eight goals and conceding only two. They currently sit second in the table with nine points, level with early leaders Freiburg.
Dortmund's latest performance was another convincing one. They defeated newly promoted Paderborn 3-0, with the result keeping their perfect start intact.
Serhou Guirassy remains one of Dortmund's main attacking threats, while Ethan Nwaneri made his first Bundesliga start against Paderborn, adding another creative option to BVB's attack.
Stuttgart have had a much more difficult start. They have collected only three points from their opening three matches and currently sit 14th. Their latest Bundesliga outing ended in a 2-1 defeat to Hoffenheim.
Home advantage should make Stuttgart competitive, but Dortmund's current form gives the visitors the edge.
Prediction: VfB Stuttgart 1-2 Borussia Dortmund
Match Tip: Borussia Dortmund to win or draw

Bayer Leverkusen vs RB Leipzig
This could be one of the most entertaining Bundesliga fixtures of Matchday 4.
Leverkusen have experienced a mixed start under Carles Martínez. They have four points from three matches and currently sit seventh in the Bundesliga. Last weekend, the Werkself were held to a 2-2 draw by Augsburg.
Patrik Schick remains an important figure in attack, but Leverkusen will need to be more consistent if they want to return to the Champions League places.
RB Leipzig arrive at the BayArena with renewed confidence.
After losing to Werder Bremen on Matchday 2, Leipzig responded in style by thrashing Hamburg 5-0. Christopher Nkunku also scored his first Bundesliga goal since returning to the club.
That victory moved Leipzig onto six points from three matches, putting them fifth in the table and just three points behind the early leaders.
There is very little between these two sides historically in this type of fixture, but recent head-to-head numbers favour Leverkusen: across the latest five meetings listed ahead of this match, Leverkusen have three wins, Leipzig one, with one draw.
Leverkusen have home advantage, but Leipzig's pace and confidence after their five-goal performance make them difficult to back against.
Prediction: Bayer Leverkusen 2-2 RB Leipzig
Match Tip: Both teams to score
Final Verdict
Dortmund are the stronger pick after winning their opening three Bundesliga matches, although Stuttgart at home should provide a tougher test than Paderborn.
Leverkusen vs Leipzig is much harder to call. Leipzig carry better momentum after their 5-0 win, while Leverkusen have the quality and home advantage to respond.
